In October-November, a German master's student Lilli Lorenzen worked in the residency. Lilly is currently working on her master's thesis at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. The degree's case study focuses on tourism in Kuusamo and the climate resilience of tourism.
During the residency, she interviewed numerous tourism entrepreneurs in the region about how climate change and its prevention are reflected in their operations and what opportunities and challenges it poses for their operations.
The research increases understanding of how tourism activities can be changed in the long term so that sustainable methods of operation are created. The master’s thesis will be ready in the spring of 2023.
